4. Atkinson Resort and Country Club, Atkinson

Back on the list after a year away, Atkinson offers 18 holes, a driving range, a practice hole, and a golf academy, open seven days a week. Atkinson is one of those Southern New Hampshire towns that Massachusetts buyers discover and never leave. It sits right on the border, so relocating from MA to NH here means keeping your commute while gaining lower property taxes and no state income tax on wages. Do not let the name fool you. This course is open to the public and sits at the base of Mount Kearsarge, with a layout stretching between 6,000 and 7,000 yards. Weekend rounds run $65 for 18 holes, with weekday and twilight rates that are even friendlier. Sutton and the surrounding Kearsarge region offer some of the best value in New Hampshire real estate, with rural land, classic New England homes, and a pace of life that makes a Tuesday afternoon tee time feel entirely reasonable.

1. Omni Mount Washington Resort, Bretton Woods

The top spot goes to the Mount Washington course at the Omni Mount Washington Resort. This par 72 course was designed by legendary Scottish architect Donald Ross in 1915 and restored by Brian Silva for its 2008 reopening, and it plays against the backdrop of the Presidential Range. The resort also offers the 9 hole Mount Pleasant course if you want a shorter round with the same scenery. Tee times are booked by calling the clubhouse directly. Bretton Woods is a destination rather than a commuter town, but for buyers considering a New Hampshire vacation property, it is hard to beat waking up in the White Mountains with a Donald Ross course down the road.
