The Best Southern New Hampshire Towns for Massachusetts Commuters

You want New Hampshire living without giving up your Massachusetts paycheck. Good news. Southern New Hampshire is full of towns where you can have both. As a Realtor who helps commuter families cross the border all the time, here are the communities I recommend buyers put on their list.

Nashua

The Gate City is the classic landing spot for relocating Massachusetts families, and for good reason. Route 3 runs straight into the Massachusetts tech corridor, downtown Nashua has a thriving restaurant and arts scene, and the housing market offers everything from condos to colonials. If you want city amenities with New Hampshire taxes, start here.

Salem

Sitting right on Interstate 93 at the state line, Salem is about as commuter friendly as it gets. Tuscan Village has brought shopping, dining, and new housing options, and Canobie Lake Park is a hometown perk your kids will never stop bragging about. Salem homes for sale tend to move quickly, so come prepared.

Hudson

Just across the Merrimack River from Nashua, Hudson offers a little more land and a little more quiet while keeping the border within minutes. It's a favorite for buyers who want a yard, a neighborhood feel, and an easy shot down Route 3.

Windham

Windham has become one of the most sought after towns in Southern New Hampshire, with newer construction, a strong school system, and direct Interstate 93 access. Buyers looking for upscale homes with a manageable Boston area commute should have Windham on their radar.

Hollis

If your vision of New Hampshire includes stone walls, farm stands, and top rated schools, Hollis delivers. It's a quintessential New England town with apple orchards and open space, yet Nashua and the Massachusetts line are just minutes away. Homes in Hollis are in high demand and rarely sit long.

Pelham

Tucked into the corner where New Hampshire meets Massachusetts, Pelham offers one of the shortest border commutes in the state. It's a smaller community with a strong local identity and quick access to both Route 3 and Interstate 93 corridors.

Which Town Is Right for You?

Every one of these towns offers something different, from school districts to lot sizes to commute routes. The best way to narrow it down is a conversation about how you actually live. Where do you work? Do you need highway access or park and ride options? Are schools the top priority, or is it land and privacy?

If you're thinking about moving from Massachusetts to New Hampshire, I'd love to help you find the town and the home that fit. Reach out anytime.
